Vote NO on the 2.0 Mills Regional Enhancement Millage

WISD is attempting to circumvent Proposal A with the 2.0 mills Regional Enhancement Millage on the November 3 ballot.

AAPS homeowners already pay 17.52 mills.  WISD says: “It takes a millage to educate a child.”  AAPS homeowners already pay six millages (three AAPS millages, two WISD millages and the State Education Tax).

Can you afford an 11.4% increase?  The owner of a home with a $150,000 taxable value already pays $2,628 per year in school taxes.  This WISD-sponsored Regional Enhancement Millage is an additional $300 per year, a total of $1,500 over the five years of the millage.

AAPS homeowners would pay $16 million per year in new taxes, but the Ann Arbor Public Schools would receive only $11 million from WISD.

AAPS already receive about $2,000 more per pupil than the other schools.  AAPS already receive over $12,000* per pupil per year.

Our community is already very generous to its schools.  A NO vote on Nov. 3 places a requirement of responsible spending on Ann Arbor Public Schools, of ending the status quo, and of developing a sustainable educational model.
